Welcome to the OHMBA Rally Cap Page.

For the 2022 season we have introduced the Rally Cap program to the OHMBA, in partnership with Baseball Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays. Information can be found at https://baseball.ca/rally-cap-initiation-program

For an introduction to the Rally Cap Program, check out this link here. Coaches are also encouraged to watch the Rally Cap on-boarding video here

Our 5U House League Program will be completely replaced by RallyCap. Teams have been set up in 6 pods of 18. These pods will play together throughout the summer, with the hope that parents will become familiar with one another and be more willing to help out in the field. The program will follow the Rally Cap Practice Plans that start on page 25 of the Mini Book Coaches Manual found here.
For our 7U program there will be 1 team that has a practice each week instead of a game. 7U coaches are encouraged to follow the corresponding practice plan for the week that they have a practice instead of a game.

The Rally cap Mini Book is set up with 3 levels of practice plans
- On Deck / Home Run (Starting on page 25)
- Single / Double (Starting on page 81)
- Triple / Home run (Starting on page 132)

Depending upon the progression and skill level of the group/team, coaches & parent helpers are encouraged to considering substituting a higher level practice plan if they see fit.

The design for 5U Rally Cap is to have 2 teams/groups of 6 playing a game in the infield, while the 3rd group of 6 is practicing drills in the outfield. Each practice plan includes multiple drills, so the group of 6 practicing drills in the outfield can be broken down into 2 smaller groups of 3, or 3 smaller pairs of 2.
The 1 hour timeslot is broken down into 3 blocks of 20 mins, which includes time to switch between groups. While playing in the infield, players will rotate after every hit / batter, following the below diagram. Hoops can be placed on the infield to identify where each positions plays (1B, 2B, SS, 3B). This will help players play the correct position, instead of running and standing on the base.

Equipment for the Rally Cap Program can be found in the team equipment bags, as well as the equipment bins at the field. Coaches /Parent helpers are encouraged to arrived at the diamond 15-20 mins before game time to set up the field and practice equipment for the practice plan that week.

Closing Day for 5U will be the Rally Cap Evaluation Day. More information to follow regarding Closing Day activities.
