Home & Home vs Stouffville
The 8U Bengals squad continued their strong start, with a tie and a win against Stouffville on July 10th and 14th....
In the first meeting between these teams (July 10th - played at Rupert Park in Stouffville) the entire lineup contributed during 6 innings of play. D. Kenny and M. Smith both went 5-fo-5 at the plate, with homeruns coming from Fulcher(2) and Ambrosio(1).
It was a back and forth affair that finished in a 23-23 tie on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the ballpark. While the players were informed after the game, the pitching machine was set to 40Mph by Stouffville (the first time the Bengals had seen this speed) and the players responded with some big hits.
On Wednesday July 14th it was Stouffville's turn to make the drive, with the two teams squaring off in Game 2 of the Home and Home at Alton Park. It was another battle between two good teams, with the Stouffville jumping out to an early lead. But the Bengals wouldn't let the Yankees beat them on their home turf, and in the end the 8U Orangeville team came out on top with the 24-21 victory in 6-1/2" innings of play.
Returning from an injury, C.Gauer went 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs. Fulcher's bat continued to stay hot, going 5-for-5 at the plate and driving in 5 RBIs. G.Flindall went 4-for-5 at the plate, with a HR and 5 RBIs on the night. The night saw some great defence from the Bengals squad.
The Bengals travelled to Barrie on Tuesday July 20th. Stay tuned for a recap...
