7U Jr Rookie Allstar Program
Orangeville & Headwaters Minor Baseball Association
7U Jr. Rookie Allstar Program
Established in preparation for the 2018 baseball season, the 7U Jr Rookie Allstar Program is an introduction to advanced level baseball training and competition for some of our youngest Bengals. With our House League program starting for players as young as 4 (or 3 the year they turn 4), and Rep level baseball not being offered until 8U, the 7U Jr Rookie Allstar Program provides an opportunity for players/parents to partake in additional practices and exhibition games, as well as the opportunity to enter into Little-League tournaments in Southern Ontario.
Coach selection and tryouts for the team are typically held in the fall of the previous year, with indoor training taking place over the fall/winter/spring months in preparation for the season ahead. Occasionally tryouts may also be held in the spring (prior to the season starting), as a lot of growth and development can take place over the winter months.
7U Jr. Rookie Allstars must register and participate in the House League program, where they will be evenly separated amongst the House League teams. 7U House League plays once per week. The Jr Rookie Allstars will gather for an additional practice each week, and the coaches/team staff will organize exhibition games and enter into tournaments. There is an additional league/registration fee for the Allstar program, and the team will also need to fundraise and find sponsors to cover the cost of tournaments (team fees). League fees cover a portion of the additional uniform costs - with the balance of the uniform costs and field rental costs being covered by the Association as an investment into the program.
Since the inaugural season, the 7U Jr Rookie Allstar program has seen great success, participating and winning tournaments in Mississauga, Ancaster, and Stoney Creek. The program has played a key role in elevating our 8U and beyond Rep teams to an A/AA level from the start. Prior to the 2018 season, our 8U teams generally started in the Select Baseball loop - advancing to the Rep A or AA level further down the road. The Allstar program helps get our young Bengals #Ready2Roar, while introducing parents and players alike to what lies ahead in 8U and beyond.
