Are you passionate about youth baseball? Have you ever said "I wish the league would do this..." or "It would be better if we did that...". There is a lot of great ideas out there, and if you're willing to work to turn your ideas into reality, then we have an opportunity for you...
On Monday October 7th at 7:00 pm (Alder Rec Centre - TD Room), Orangeville & Headwaters Minor Baseball Association will be holding our Annual General Meeting which will include the election of the 2019-2020 OHMBA Executive. All members (all registered of age players or parents, head coaches (mangers), umpires, sponsors and board members.
) are invited to attend...
The 2019 season was a year of transition for the OHMBA. Over the past few years the league has grown significantly, and at the end of the 2018 season, President Dave Parsons indicated that he would be stepping down from the lead role after 10+ successful years. Over Dave's time as President, the league was turned around from a difficult financial position, and a focus was placed on ensuring baseball remained an affordable option for the youth of Orangeville and surrounding areas.
In late 2018 a new President was selected, but due to extenuating circumstance, the candidate was unable to fulfill the position. Jesse Edmunds was appointed Interim President after proposing a 1-year mandate that would focus on developing the future structure of the OHMBA, and a new constitution was created; including identifying 14 Executive positions (not including Conveners) and 4 task manager positions. For years the OHMBA has been run by a small group of very dedicated individuals, but unfortunately that model is simply unsustainable for the long term future of baseball in Orangeville. Positions to be filled/elected include the following:
First Vice-President of House League
Second Vice-President of Rep/Select
Public Outreach and Social Media
Player Development and Ratings Coordinator
Administrator and Registrar
Baseball in Orangeville has never been stronger than it is today. Every year our younger divisions (Tball & Junior Rookie) max out registrations, and we have Rep/Select/Allstar teams at nearly every division competing across Ontario. Orangeville has been 'put on the map' as a baseball hotbed, and we need more volunteers to ensure we deliver a 'best-in-class' baseball experience for all of our members.
Stay tuned for more information about the AGM, and if you are interested in becoming a part of Orangeville & Headwaters Minor Baseball, be sure to reach out to a current Executive member to communicate that interest.
