To our Players, Parents, Coaches, Umpires, Sponsors and Volunteers of Orangeville And Headwaters Minor Baseball,
This past Thursday night the York Simcoe Baseball Association made the call to suspend all Competitive baseball activities for its Locals.
We received this statement from the YSBA President: Effective immediately, the YSBA is cancelling the 2020 Elite, Rep and Select competitive season including all YSBA sanctioned games, Provincial Qualifiers and Affiliate Championships. This will remain in effect until September 7 (Labour Day), 2020.
With this announcement the Orangeville Minor Baseball Executive has no choice but to suspend ALL baseball activities for this season.
After Labour Day weekend we hope to host our 2021 rep and select tryouts, if permitted to do so.
We know everyone wanted to play and we kept hope, but this is the right decision at this time.
We will be sending out our refund information shortly once we put together the best way to do this and give everyone options to get their money back and/or defer your registration and help support us until next season. Many items were prepared and paid for in January, well before the Pandemic hit. We are looking at a substantial financial loss. As we are a NOT for Profit Association, we will need support.
Rep and Select teams and coaches will be meeting to discuss their next step in Baseball Ontario’s Development plan and decide on their individual needs.
I would personally like to thank all our volunteers that have worked tirelessly on many solutions and protocols to allow a return to play but unfortunately we won’t be able to do that today.
The information package sent to us from the YSBA can be found
HERE.
Furthermore a detailed message and communication will be coming out shortly on refunds and next steps.
Thank you all,
Sincerely,
Phil Lankhof
President, OMBA
