Introducing RallyCap Baseball in 2022 - 5U/7U House League
Submitted By Jesse Edmunds on Fri 01 28, 22
Hey Bengals,

With registration just around the corner, we thought we would share some exciting news about a new program for our youngest Bengals.

This year the OHMBA will be introducing the Rally Cap program in partnership with Baseball Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Rally Cap program is designed as an improvement over traditional t-ball/junior rookie as a child’s first introduction to playing organized baseball. Each player also receives a styling cap (as shown in the picture)

Rally Cap succeeds by integrating an active drill in the outfield while a game takes place on the infield. This allows players to stay engaged and active throughout Rally Cap sessions, minimizing standing around and waiting. The results of the program lead to players having:
  • 7.5x the number of ball touches
  • 15x more balls hit
  • 3x more positions played
As always, our volunteers will be a big part of our success with the Rally Cap program. Being a Rally Cap Parent Helper is made easy for any parent or guardian volunteer because the program comes with its own easy to implement practice plans and parent helper handbooks. The drills are easy to understand and incorporate. Drills focus on basic baseball skills and athletic movements in a fun way that keeps players engaged.

Parent helpers are also provided progress reports for each player, so they can provide constructive and helpful feedback for players to get better. As players succeed with their progress reports, they have the option of advancing to the next level and develop new sets of skills from advanced drills.

We hope you're as excited as we are to introduce this fun alternative to our traditional programs for our youngest Bengals. For more information, check out this introduction video from Baseball Canada President Jason Dickson. You can also check out this video of a sample instructional video.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates about our plans for the 2022 season!
