Hey Bengals,
With registration having closed last week, we are now in the final stages of preparing for the 2022 season. Here's a few quick updates for our membership....
House League Season Start:
The season is scheduled to start Tuesday May 24th, after the Victoria Day Weekend. In the past (prior to the pandemic) this has been our typical start date as fields/permits are not available earlier. Conveners are currently being contacted and teams are being compiled. Coaches should expect to hear from Conveners or the VP of HL soon about a pre-season coaches meeting, with coaches expected to contact players before the season starts. Uniforms will be provided to the coaches for distribution.
Reminder to all Rally Cap Coaches/Helpers/Volunteers of the Information Session this Wednesday April 27th (
more information here)
Pre-Season Pitching Clinic:
We have 40 players registered for our pre-season pitching clinic this coming Sunday May 1st. Due to a higher number of 10-13Us than 14U+ we have had to mix ages. Players/parents will receive an email this week confirming their timeslot.
We are hoping to offer another clinic during the season, for those that may have missed out this time around.
Sponsors:
Nearly half of our House League teams are still without a sponsor. Sponsors play a vital role in helping to deliver baseball programming. For more information regarding sponsorship opportunities please click
here.
Volunteer Screening Requirements:
See previous article regarding volunteer screening requirements. This is applicable to all volunteers, including Coaches and Executive Members - as well as umpires over the age of 18.
The Shack Renovation:
While we had hoped to be getting started on the renovation soon, the building permit process revealed that the Town has no records available from when the building was originally built. We have to apply for a minor variance to the zoning (as a result of this newfound information) before our permit can be approved. Based on the timelines involved, the earliest we can expect to have a permit / get started is the 3rd week of June. We hope to get started as soon as possible, and to be able to reveal the shack before the season is over.
We will still be having The Shack Renaming Contest, so stay tuned for more news on that!
We're looking forward to having everyone back on the fields soon. Thank you for your patience while we work through the final stages of planning for the 2022 OHMBA House League Season.
