Parent Code of Conduct
Hey Bengals,

We would like to remind everyone of the parent code of conduct that was signed off as a part of the registration...

Below you will find the Parent Code of Conduct from the 2023 registration:

Over the past few seasons, we have seen an increase in concerning parent / fan behaviour. To all of our coaches and parents alike, please remember:
- These are kids
- This is a game
- Coaches are volunteers
- Umpires are human (and in the case of the OHMBA, many of our umpires are young players that have taken on a greater responsibility that helps us facilitate the season).
- Your child does not play in the MLB.

Having to address and deal with parent/coach complaints and incidents is a part of being a volunteer for the OHMBA Executive, but it also takes a considerable amount of time and care from the same people that are already putting in a significant amount of time and effort to ensure baseball is offered to the youth of the Orangeville & Headwaters area. Time is sacrificed with loved ones, and in many cases, it has a considerable impact on work-life balance.

The fact of the matter is simple. Without our volunteers, the league would not operate. We are all human, we have bad days, we have triggers and stresses in our daily lives. But before taking a position that could cause additional conflict, remember the code of conduct, remember this is a GAME that is meant to be FUN, and try to find a constructive and positive way to address situations.

For our House League parents, if issues arise, please first try to address the situation with the coach in a constructive manner. If that is unsuccessful, or if you are uncomfortable with the situation, please involve the Convener for your particular age group. When/If necessary, the Convener will escalate the situation to the VP of House League and/or the House League Committee. Under no circumstance should situations escalate to a negative space with our young Bengals present.

For our Rep parents, if a situation arises, you should always start by trying to address the situation with the coach or team manager. If necessary, the situation can be escalated to the VP of Rep / Select. Contact information for all of the Executive / Board members can be found here.

Thank you for your time and understanding.
